Fire, believed to have been started by a chimney spark, did considerable damage to Liberty Grove school house, three miles south of here on State Highway 57 in what is known as the German settlement, early Thanksgiving morning.

The fire department worked for nearly two hours before getting the fire under control. It was necessary to cut out most of the interior wall to get to the fire burning between the walls. School officials expressed the opinion that a spark from the chimney had fallen in the ventilator. The entire floor and wall will have to be replaced, which will require from two to three weeks’ time.

The entire loss is covered by insurance.
