Lerner, stores of Frank Bunda and Mrs. Wm. Bunda, the latter including the post office, hotel belonging to Henry Pleck ad warehouse of Frank Smith, were destroyed.

The total loss is estimated at nearly $39,000 with insurance of only $17,000, the individual losses being as follows: Mrs. W Bunda, $14,000; F. Pleck, $12,000; L. Lerner, $7,000; F. Bunda, $5,000; Smith, $5,000.

The village is without fire protection and when the blaze, which started in the store of L. Lerner, got under headway before being discovered the villagers could only watch the work of destruction. From the Lerner residence the flames spread to Mrs. Bunda’s store and to the hotel and warehouse, where is burned itself out for want of further fuel.
